Raffle & Auction

For the women’s and men’s races, additional race slots are offered through auction and raffle activities on July 3rd. The activities take place at 7:00 pm on July 3rd, prior to and in the same location as the mandatory Safety Meeting.

There is no raffle or auction for spots in the junior’s race. Young runners need sufficient time to train and prepare for their race.

The Auction Process

Ten (10) race slots are auctioned off for each the men’s and women’s race.  Competition is fierce, yet fun, with auction bids beginning at $200 and going as high as $3,000 for a single race slot.

  • The auction is open to all individuals 18 and older that have completed the entire course previously.
  • Those applicants not selected in the lottery are eligible to participate, as well as individuals that did not previously apply.
  • Individuals participating in the auction must be present and can not designate another individual to participate in their stead.
  • Payment is required immediately and may be made by cash or credit card.

The Raffle Process

Prior to the Auction, one additional slot is drawn raffle-style for the men’s or women’s race. One-hundred percent of the raffle proceeds are donated to a local non-profit agency or project to benefit the residents of Seward. Previous recipients include the Seward Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Seward Fire Department, Seward Senior Center, and Seward’s local food pantry. Donations have ranged from $500 – to over $2,000.

  • Tickets for the raffle may be purchased for $10 each on July 3rd from 5:00 pm until 6:45 pm. Payment is required immediately and may be made by cash or credit card.
  • No late raffle tickets will be sold.
